Why we built MonkeyPen
We got tired of fixing AI drafts.
Every day we asked ChatGPT and Claude to write replies to colleagues “in my style”, and every time we pasted old messages first so it would sound like us. It worked, but we were doing it ten times a day.
So we built MonkeyPen. It remembers how you write: your greetings, your short sentences, the way you sign off. Now a one-line note becomes a reply that sounds like you.

How does MonkeyPen learn how I write?
From your own writing: sent emails, posts, documents or a link to your blog, plus anything you answer in the quick questions. It measures your sentence length, tone, punctuation, greetings and sign-offs, and gives the AI your writing and that description every time it writes.
What can I import?
A Gmail Sent export (.mbox), single emails (.eml), Word and Google Docs files (.docx), your LinkedIn posts export (Shares.csv), your X archive (tweets.js), text files, and links to your blog, Substack or Medium. One-click Gmail, Outlook and Slack connections are coming.
I don't have anything to import. Can I still use it?
Yes. Answer a few quick questions instead: how you open and sign off, your usual tone, and a handful of everyday messages written the way you normally would. Every answer makes your voice stronger.
Do I need ChatGPT first?
No. Tell MonkeyPen what you need in a line, like “email Emily: can't do Thursday, Monday 10am works”, and it writes the whole thing in your voice. If you already have a draft from ChatGPT or anywhere else, paste that instead.
What is the sounds-like-you score?
A check on every result, measured against your own writing: sentence length, punctuation, greeting, sign-off, tone and spelling, with points off for stock AI phrases you never use. It's arithmetic, not a guess by the AI.
What happens to my writing?
Your voices and history are saved to your account so you can come back to them, and you can delete any of it at any time. When you write, your voice goes to our AI provider to write the text. Nothing is ever used to train AI.
Which AI does it use?
Claude, made by Anthropic. It's the model family we found best at natural writing and at following someone's style.
Is there a free plan?
Yes: 20 writes a month and one voice, no card. Plus and Pro add more writes, more voices and the integrations as they ship.
Will it get past AI detectors?
We don't promise that, and we don't test against them. MonkeyPen makes text sound like you. AI detectors change often and get it wrong both ways, so no tool can honestly promise a score. If your school or employer asks you to say when you've used AI, say so.
